We Lied

by ilikepurple222   Nov 26, 2010

I lied.

I told you that you were good
but you were far from it.
Unreliable, emotional, the list goes on.
I was blinded by your impeccable carefulness
and the way your eyes spoke truth.
All you were was a beautiful, perfect liar
so skilled at what you do.

I enjoy being in places you haven't.
You had yourself believing that I wouldn't make it out alive,
but you were wrong
so sit back and watch me fly.

Like a virus you've infected every part of my life
and I haven't quite figured out how to kill you off yet.

I surprised myself with the progress I've made
and the lack of tears shed for you.
You won't break me,
nor will you change me like you thought you could.
I was everything you wanted but couldn't be.

Though I still remember the look on your face
lit through the darkness.
How you kissed me
when I was in the middle of saying something;
There's never a day when I don't miss those rude interruptions.

You promised you would be better than before.
You lied.
