Fox In The Socks

by Ross H Bruce   Feb 1, 2011

Amidst the chaos in my hidden closet
Farther where the lights refuse to shine
Only the molds and spiders' webs beget
And faded pictures of golden prime
Where there is a history of past glories
Trials and tribulations all abound
Wilted memories linger and haunting
Like ghosts and roses of olden times
Tarnished pendant of my deceased mother
With her smile so gentle and warm
Leather gloves that shrunk to nowhere
No pair of hands to keep their charm
And underneath a brown sock of my lover
The fox who jumped my turbulent past over
The matching half is missing it is so inevitable
But the other refuses to see what is sensible.
