Woman On The Wall

by Ross H Bruce   Feb 1, 2011

Woman on the wall
Why are you alone?
Do you have a heart?
Is it made of stone?
Are you an entity?
Do you have a soul?
Or just an object on an empty hall?

You remind me of someone I knew;
Your mysterious eyes always aglow.
Mole on your cheek is so unique.
Long raven hair, so full of chic.

Woman that I'd loved just let me go.
She broke my heart, burned my soul.
Her wicked ways made me sick;
Her outside beauty turned me weak.

Woman that I've adored since I was young;
She's resting now under the ground.
She gave me strength when I was weak.
She stuck with me through thin and thick.

Woman on the wall, listen to my plea;
If you're my lost love go set me free.
If you gave me life be by my side
Or, I'd stare at you until I die.

    Thank you. Inspiration from my deceased mother and my lost love. ;-)

    What a unique title to the poem which drew me in. The poems beginning was very powerful and then it seemed to wane a bit.
    Some of the end seemed to be forced, but the message was great. At the beginning I thought it could be about Mona Lisa, but then realized it was a poem about your mother. What an interesting concept. I enjoyed the read.

    Take Care,
