My Sweetest Downfall

by Ashley   Feb 6, 2011

The slightest thought of you makes me cry.
A little faint whisper of your name makes my heart slowly crack.
I walk around every day with this gaping hole inside of me.
Each day that I wake up the hole gets bigger.
The bigger it gets the emptier I feel.
The emptier I feel the more the urges rise to stop all hurt and pain.
This ring that you gave me is the most cherished thing I have in my life right now.
I feel like something is missing without it on my finger.
It's a bittersweet feeling keeping this ring.
It reminds me of all the great memories we shared with each other.
Memories like watching movies on the X-Box together, doing our online shopping together, having you stay up all night with me when Melissa died.
You were always by my side.
You were always there to help me.
I don't know why I thought that life without you would be easier.
Now that I think back, you were the only person that made me happy.
I took you for granted though.
When I did that, I destroyed the best thing to happen in my life.
I've apologized so many times, but this is something that an "I'm sorry" just won't fix.
All I have now is the vivid memories.
Soon to be faded memories.
No matter what, I will always love you.
You are my sweetest downfall.
