Comatose

by Whitney Graham   Feb 9, 2011

The night was frigid and dark.
Signs of life were nowhere to be seen.
She lay there in a comatose state
As her heart stuttered to a stop.
Her blood was spilling out of the wounds
While she lay in it.
He lay beside of her, lifeless.
His heart was gone, along with his soul.
The fire swallowed their bodies
As they turned into ash.
The soft wind blew the ashes over the rocks
And across the blackened water.
The sacrifice was complete
And so where their lives.
