Hair Falls

I know these words are simple
And that they do not all rhyme.
Yet sometimes it is the simple
That can best describe;

That something inside of me
Falls out of place / gets left behind,
Whenever you come into my room
And smile.

That I lose the power of speech
And ironically, I retreat.
Because I am too shy / too cautious to try
For the things that I desire.

That the more time around you,
The less sure I grow,
I am scared that time eventually,
Will force you to go.
Because the words I now choose,
No longer come out right.
They are polluted and warped
By certainties of feeling,
I'm not sure I want / need you to know.

That all I can do is apologise
And fill myself with a vain hope,
That I will stop filling conversations,
With empty anecdotes.

That sometimes my thoughts diverge
Because you have let down your hair,
You hold a beauty that paralyses the mind
A beauty that leaves me to wonder
What word next? Oh, what word next?
