Ding Dong Door Ditch with Death

by Stephanie   Apr 19, 2011

Death is around the corner
watching as you open door after door,
trying to find the source of the bell,
with no idea what it has in store.

You see the wisp of a cloak
as Death slides out of view
you gradually start to wonder
if it's Death who's messing with you.

Days go by without another peep
it was all in your head.
Until one fateful night
you see his face as you head to bed.

I enjoyed your poem, it bestowed the lurking of death quite well; always just around the corner. The middle two lines of the last stanza could do with a couple more syllabes to balance out the flow in connection with the first two stanzas. Overall I thought it was excellent though.
