Broken Promises

by Sarah   May 1, 2011

She said she loved him and she knew she did.
But there was something beneath the surface that she hid;
Her heart, slowly breaking,
From all the lies and the faking.
Remembering those nights he left her shaking.
All she wants is to erase the memories from her heart,
So they will stop trying to tear her apart.
And every night it's the same;
Laying cold and awake asking herself "who's to blame?"

How did she arrive at this place?
Where she can no longer look in his face
She thought love could erase
All the pain and disgrace
But maybe all along she was nothing but wrong
But why did it have to take this long?

Can she just forgive and forget?
Isn't that what a loving person is supposed to do?
But shouldn't he have just been true?
It's easier to say its okay than to just turn the other way
But will this feeling disappear one day?

Can the happiness really blind the sadness?
Or will this broken heart turn to madness?
She needs more from him, than this;
Can't be fixed with a simple kiss.
