I always like to read a whole story when I read a poem and I did..I also recognised what you wrote. Indeed guilt can tear you apart, so can love, true, heartfelt love can bring a person down if it is not meant to be.

The agony of this internal battle you are experiencing is overwhelming, the guilt, the second guessing and the feeling of not being able to go on without the other..yeah...life can be tough that way:(

Lol, when I voted, I found out I already commented on this poem! Now you have three:)

I think this is really example of a literal poem that evokes emotions. There aren't confusing metaphor to clutter up the simple and effective words. Mostly, what I think makes the poem really good is its heartfelt emotions. well done!
