Not sure I liked the feel of "pits of summer"- I would suggest something more creative to describe the being of summer.
But I loved the imagery you portrayed here and that complex web we let go of....how we come to break away from reality, pretend it doesn't exist and that we can stay in this free summer forever...but it won't last.
