THE bLACK mE

by NubianSisi   Jul 23, 2011

You're my white beloved friend and I love you
If u can see the color in the bluest eyes and the gold in the blondest
hair, u were blessed with the marvelous gift of eyesight.
You insult me when u tell I you cant see the blackness of I's skin
You hurt my feelings when u say that is invisible to your amber colored eyes
You break my black heart when u tell me its unnoticeable, therefore insignificant

You're denying my very existence
You're ignorant to the one things that makes me
You're blatantly undermining the very core of my being

Has it ever occurred to u that our differences are the foundation on which our friendship
is based.
I love running my hands through your unfamiliar soft, blond mane.
My nappy hair a contrast, quite often you lemme know that you envy my nappy crown
Your freckled face still fascinates me even after all this time
I have noticed how u marvel and my flat nose, high cheek bones and bushy eyebrows

Like a sore thumb I stand out in your midst, my white folks
I'm the black friend that you choose to be oblivious to
You do not accept me if you tell me your vision fails you in this regard
You do me wrong while trying to be politically correct
I'm your black friend and my blackness is my pride
You're my white friend and thats the first trait i notice about you
I love your vanilla colored skin that covers your beautiful soul
Acknowledge, accept and fall in love with my ebony skin, my shield, my cover, my PRIDE
