Stars and Smiles

by Lofallenve   Oct 18, 2011

I look up toward the stars tonight with a smile on my face.
I reach toward the source of my sanity with an open fist.
I try to grab onto it, to keep it with me, locked inside.
So I can feel this all the time.
But mercy be told,
I can't
I can see them right in front of me.
In perfect reach.
As soon as I reach out, they race away,
Taunting me.
After so many useless tries, I rest, I wait.
Out of the darkness I see you smile.
I see your eyes shine with devotion, with trickery.
I can't help but smile back.
Without even speaking you seem to know what to do.
Still flashing your smile, you turn and head after the stars.
I wait here, in the darkness, with hope in my hands,
That you will return,
And happiness with it.
