Trusted Betrayal

by Bobby   Oct 25, 2011

There once was a man
who had a friend he trust
This man was called away
his life he had to adjust.

He had a precious treasure
that he had to leave behind
as he traveled on his journey
but not trusting most mankind.

So he asked his trusted friend
if he would care for this treasure
for he trusted only him
with a gift that had no measure.

But as this man was gone
this friend began to wander
and his lust for the treasured gift
became fonder and fonder.

He knew he was betraying
a very trusted friend
but on the other hand
his betrayal had began.

He did not like himself
for he knew that trust was broken
but he continued to lust
even when no words were spoken.

Hoping that before his friend could return
he would have completely taken the treasure
and then his trusting friend
would have lost all his pleasure.

The sitting and the waiting
for the friend to return
and discover his betrayal
caused his heart to burn.

But even with this hurting
he could not let it go
for now he had stolen
what was never his to sow.

Now his word is worthless
His greed is apparent to all
and there is nothing left
except unmitigated gall!

For the treasure that he lust after
has also left him and gone
and he has nothing left
all his friends have withdrawn.

For when a man can't be trusted
with your treasures of the heart
then he can't be trusted at all
and that is the saddest part!
