My Rainbow

by terry   Dec 31, 2011

I stood in the damp grass
And watched the retreating clouds
Then slowly
The colors started taking shape
Blending together
Arching across the sky
Spreading from east to west
There it was
A rainbow
My rainbow
Beautiful
Deep, rich
Beautiful
It took my breath away.
Why
I can't tell you why
Rainbows
I've seen them before
But not like this one
This rainbow was mine
and
I could see the end of this
Rainbow
I could see the treasure
At the end of this
Rainbow
And again
It took my breath away
There was no chest of gold
There were no worldly riches
There was,
There,
See, there
In the glow
In the beauty
At the end of my rainbow
My treasure was
You.

Great poem, I like this poem because it has a undeniable fact that many don't grasp, many don't grasp that worldly riches only offers a temporary pleasure.
