Invisible Me

"Invisible Me"

We met one day,
At the start of your new job.
I honestly didn't know,
My heart, you would rob.

The time passed so quickly,
Days became months.
Then one day I looked at you,
I became covered in goosbumps.

Eventually, I had to tell you, just how I felt.
Hoping to God, that you're heart would melt.

Happiness left that night, from your voice, I could tell.
You quickly grew quiet, I knew I was in hell.

You explained that you no longer,
Believed in love.
Ever since your heart, was dragged through the mud.

I now realize, that I had no right,
You were waiting for your soldier,
To come home from the fight.

I vanished before you,
My voice...I couldn't speak.
I became invisible,
For days and then weeks.

Shortly thereafter, he hurt you again,
But this time was worse,
I'd say, times ten...

I was there once again,
As soon as I heard.
Wishing that you,
Would remember my words.

Who knows? Maybe?
Someday, we'll see.
Until then I'll just go on,
Being invisible me....

I love you Denise...
