So far from home

by John Dlyan Boone BABY   Jan 21, 2012

Far from home, in unmarked lands,
I sense your power, your strength;
it scares me for it is ungodly.
What mark is that, are you a beast?

When you roar that roar I feel cold,
the blood in my veins dries rapidly.
Ice embracing my whole body
what have you done to me?

All my pureness has went extinct,
all my safety has vanished. Oh, why me?
This is why i should have never left,
I should have stayed in my bed.

Too late, all had ended in my body;
I'm paralyzed all over; I feel such cold.
Where have I gone in this land?
This is not my home, where am I?

What kind of demon are you;
what powers do you hold;
why have you done such evil to my body;
why have you sucked away my life?

Left me to freeze alone, no home;
all life has frozen, all meaning gone.
Now I'll never be home again;
my last words shall be:

Never leave your home,
without having a plan,
on were to go and never fall victim,
to the worlds lies and false witnesses.

    I think that this poem is quite interesting and it definately creates a somewhat scary atmosphere. I think that the title was well chosen because it fits to the poem, doesn't tell too much, but also underlines that it might end up getting uncomfortable for the speaker. Usually people associate good feelings with being home and safety, but since the scenery is "far from home" it won't get too comfortable.
    I like the fact that you used questions because they show the speakers frustration and hopelessness. The only thing I do not like too much is the end of the poem, the message you try to convey.
