Familiar yearning

by Sid Quinsaat   Feb 8, 2012

I usually only see you walking by
The sidewalks carry ev'ry gliding step.
But today I stared at your reflection
Inside a window of our fav'rite place
What more could I ask of your complexion
Besides to sit across me face to face?

If only you could know of your effect
Upon a soul that seeks its counterpoint.
Before you I could muster up the strength
To take you and to sweep you off your feet.
But as for now I think I'll stand the length
Of time before our souls can finally meet.

I know you don't think much of me right now.
I know that you avoid my longing stares.
Eventually I'll want to talk to you
For longer than we did this moonlit night.
I'll make you smile and maybe even do
The things that lovers locked eternal might.
