Wandering Heart

by YourSweetAddiction   Mar 8, 2012

Your heart lies where your mind tends to wander...
It's nights like these that my mind wanders to you..
Nights when the wind blows, screaming obscenities, assaulting the air...
When tears pour from the midnight sky like a secret in the night,
surprised in the morning with a tear-stained pillow...
Nights like this when the trees sway,
Their branches reaching out like a lost child, finding solace in your arms..
When scattered leaves dance in the street because they have no place to go.
Nights when the park swings shift as the world sighs its goodbye...
defeat drowns its last breathe, suffocating any chance of redemption
When shadows collide then come to a rest,
blanketing the streets as they stretch their bodies one final time.
Its night like this that I miss you...
your breath on my cheek, lips rested on bare flesh..
when it seemed like your arms would never let me go,
and tears were chased away before they reached my skin..
