My Queen, My Tyrant

by Merci Perpe   Mar 12, 2012

I'm drowning in an ocean of self doubt,
There's lead weights of pity pulling me down.
I'm too scared to ask for rescue
For only she can save me, wearing her golden crown.

There's more to this tale than my confidence's fails.
Be sure to read these words with trained eyes.
If I could have resisted at first I wouldn't be here,
A mile below surface, the water muffling my cries.

Of course I can't just drown and die.
Letting me die would be far too easy.
I bet she's sitting on the beach right now
Imagining my fate and complaining when it's breezy.

But what is that coming closer?
An ocean goddess come to set me free,
A queen of pearls, not a tyrant of fools-gold,
And now she says she wants her king to be me.
