Sail Away

by Emily   Mar 18, 2012

We met, that summer day,
it was warm and bright.
I remember it, like no other time,
it was the greatest day of our lives.

We made a promise, you and I,
that someday we would sail away,
far, far, far away from this place.
Back then we were only children.

Innocence formed and innocence lasted,
through the years of adolescents.
But when they told us no, you and I,
I remember sailing away into the night.

No trace, no story, no notes,
they will never find us, you and I.
This island, that we had sailed to,
will keep us both safe from their judging eyes.

So, I will say, to you,
"Let's us sail away, you and I."
