Symphony

A bittersweet symphony
Lost in the ocean of a past life
A world we used to tend to now gone
And forevermore lost in a deep blue abyss
A memory like the petal of a rose
Falls through the sky like a feather
Crashes in a whirlwind of tears
We hold eyes but not hands
We burn for hate and not love
The old pasture has become a battleground
Words cut like knives and bruise bones
Children cry and men and women struggle to survive
And yet we play our childish games and fight
There's so much more than this
A promise comes untied like lace in the sky
The end is nearing but yet drifting so far
The trees burn as the rest of the city watches
A universe so corrupt yet we think otherwise
Money and fame buy the sweetest happiness
We laugh, we cry, we burden and we dream
Of love, lust, wrath, and grieve
A wonder of light growing brighter and brighter
So we run and we run to the hills
We flee to the mountains of freedom
Hope beats in our veins as we scream
We are home
