Thousand Miles

by ImageOfme   Apr 10, 2012

Thousands of miles away
yet a part of you lives within me,
I am sick of this grudge I bare on my shoulders
wishing I could breathe freely

Staring at a childhood photo
your face amber bright,
full of cheer
a voluminous smile,
smile greater than the sea
that inhibits our souls from confining in each other
what has happened to that smile?

Blinded by our childish ways
we could not understand
but change was on its way.
The years flew by and time
captured us both in solitude,
hearts grew colder as we grew older

You say that brotherly love is still there,
that time could not diminish our blood ties
Convincing it does sound, but to believe such lie is foolish
The commitment has vanished
betrayal has found our souls
and our love remains', a
thousand miles away.

This is a really deep and touching poem raw and honest, It tapped at my heart as I can relate very well to this piece. Ah, if only we could go back to simpler more innocent times with our siblings before life and time changed so much...great write. Thank you for sharing it.
