An evening glow pt 4.

by Merdy   Apr 20, 2012

It had been spring when we first saw each other, not only in nature but also in the intellectual world. She wore pure white clothes, and a pure white doctors mask, and I thought whiteness in the universe must have been created for her. Only her eyes were so black they shone... When I saw those lustrous eyes I knew that my former life was over. Premonitions like that had never failed me before. I saw her eyes rest on my name in the hospital record, then watched them light up. Certain that she must once have noticed those doomed letters at the end of some poem, I did not know whether to be ashamed or proud. The stethoscope that she placed against my chest took a long time to measure the beat of my heart. She laughed shyly later when I said I had quite openly bared my heart to her the first time we met.

An evening glow hit the egg white walls. Sitting in the stark room a quote I heard crossed my mind.
"Never begin to believe you can change your fate!"

An evening glow, rigid bed, bandaged wrist, concerned brown eyes.... Fate?...
