Questions

Your voice whispers over the phone
The need in your voice, strong
As the words of: baby, I miss you
Touches the softness of my ear.
Do you hear the pain in my words?
I often wonder as I count down the days,
Will you see the sorrow lined on my face?
Making me appear older than my twenty one years?
You'll take my hand and lead to me your room
There on the bed you'll lay,
Saying: baby, come be with me.
I'll stand in the doorway,
Unable to cross that threshold
Enter the world where her feet had touched
Lay in a bed where your bodies were intertwined.
Did you tell her that was the same bed we copulated in?
Did you tell her that you were so in love with me,
Or did you tell her that I was some quick lay?
Did you happen to mention the nights you came to my
Door, in a drunken stupor, begging for a place to stay?
Did you happen to mention how in your stupor
You dropped to one knee and asked me to marry you?
Was I mentioned as your girlfriend?
Or a stupid mistake that was made?--
Does she know about all the negatives things you said about her?
Or about all the same things you whispered to her,
Was whispered to me, sometimes on the same day?
So at your doorway I'll stand,
A battle raging in my head,
The same one I've been fighting since the start.
To love a man who gives only pain in return,
Or leave a man I love, with pain in my heart.

    Sad...well written!
The questions are stong and hard.
    I loved your lines!
