Dear Journal: (lyric)

by Merci Perpe   Apr 25, 2012

Dear journal:
I know that I
Couldn't ever say goodbye
Nocturnal
Is what you've made me
You're on my mind so I can't sleep
I'm waiting
To get the nerve
To go up and talk instead of observe
I don't know
How you feel
But I know that what I feel is real

I'd love to hear this being sung. It's deep, yet very relatable. Not all of us have or have had a journal or perhaps a diary, but this can also be relatable to people with secrets and deep thoughts, feelings they don't want to show or reveal. The journal can be literal in this piece, but it may also be a metaphor for memories and whatnot.

--I love this part. In a literal sense, the persona might be having trouble sleeping, maybe he wants to put everything down on paper before he can finally rest, or in the metaphorical sense, he can't sleep because he's thinking of someone really special, and can't stop thinking of that person; that is a cliche--can't sleep because you're thinking of someone dear, but how you penned this is so unique and beautiful.
Really amazing piece. Short but sweet; direct but at the same time, deep. Definitely keep writing! I love this :)
