Siren's Song to her Dear Sailor

by Helen   May 14, 2012

My skin, the sandy, tanned, shore
taste it, bathed in the seas salty mist
my ribs, stark, jutting, cliffs
climb them, with your fingers
my hair, sun filtered through clouds
play with it, bask in its glow
my collar bones, hollowed tide pools
explore them, with your lips, searching
my eyes, seaglass reminiscent of the sea
you walked long nights on the shore for them
my lips, the frothy lick of a wave
teasing waves, let them wash over you
oh sailor, you have seen the surface
gazed into the glassy waters down below
but if you seek the treasures of sea
swim deeper, deeper, deeper
where the waters cold, and light is scarce
go deeper and behold
at the bottom of the sea, you'll find the tiny pearl
here lies this pearl, my heart, dear sailor
yet this you must know, it takes much time,
and sand and brine to form the pearl just so
so dear sailor do your best to keep it safe and close
for if a sirens pearl is lost
a second one, she can't grow.
