The One

by Tyler Moore   May 24, 2012

When you left
angels wept,
strangling the wind
and dimming the sun.

The pain, so relentlessly
did it pierce the shattered pieces of my heart,
tearing my soul in two,
leaving naught but a heavy emptiness
in its place.
It was a feeling unknown to me,
the kind you read about in fairy tales
of lost love and broken hearts.

How could I have been so foolish,
to push you away,
like winter's storms do onto
autumn's breeze.

Why did it take so long,
till you were gone and all was done,
for me to finally realize,
that you were
The One.
