Oh, Alice

by Dayana   Jul 2, 2012

Alice, oh, Alice why did you leave
You told us stories you seem to believe
The caterpillar gave you lies from which to feed
The Mad Hatter broke your tongue with tasteless tea

Alice, oh, Alice why are you easy to deceive
You told us the things of which you've seen
The looking glass blurred your sight of what to achieve
The misleading labels gave you false release

Alice, oh, Alice why are you so naive
You told us of the Wonderland you so highly deem
The White Rabbit's watch you had to retrieve
From friends that were only thieves

Alice, oh, Alice why can't you see
You told us of the dangers you misconceived
The White Rabbit took you to meet the Queen
Meanwhile the Cheshire Cat's real grin remained unseen

Alice, oh, Alice why do you grieve
You told us of your love for the land so pristine
The Red Roses you painted had a dangerous fee
The Red Queen's price, your head and heart on her sleeve
