Sigh....for the most part we certainly do live within a narrow society consrticted by their childish and selfish restraints, and not wanting to fit in and being the odd one out definatly has its price to pay on occasion.......but....who the hell wants to be like everyone else anyway :-)

Your whole persona in my opinion syrup puts you head and shoulders above the rest by miles!!! Sometimes you may feel lonly but your never alone xx

It is really unfair and heart aching to be rejected by humans. This notion is quite expressed brilliantly in the last stanza.

But as you are there for me, I am there for you.. We all are here, Andrea :)

Short but powerful work. I liked it. I loved the ending it emphasised the power of the poem for me.

As for fitting in, people who fit in may not seem lonely - but they are inside, as the people who they are fitting in with wont be in their lives for long, those kind of people never are.

with some kind of rejection in life.
Instead of accepting who we truly are
people becoming so consumed with trying

Andrea, this is no doubt one of my favorite poems by you. This is just how I'm feeling right now.

"I'll never fit in, // nor do I want to,"

This is simple, but brilliant! I love how it's worded. I've felt this a lot of times; I'm not so sure whether I like it or not, but I think I've gotten used to it though it's not the best feeling ever.

"but odd has a price
to pay,
and I'm lonely."

The ending felt, to me, like you just wrote what I've been wanting to, but couldn't/don't know how to. It's just amazing/weird/wonderful how I can relate so much to this piece. Never stop writing.
