Da Vinci Couldn't Paint Your Picture

by Huey L   Aug 23, 2012

In a dream, I saw Da Vinci
trying to paint your picture.
But your true beauty
he couldn't seem to capture.

No brushes are as fine
as the lines of your eyes.
No painted face can outshine
the hue your cheek belies.

No strokes are as graceful
as the curve of your chin.
No canvas is as colorful
as the texture of your skin.

And on that peaceful morning,
as the sun rose from the East,
I dreamt as I lay sleeping
of a living masterpiece.
