I Have, Do, and Will Love You

by jescelle   Feb 17, 2013

I loved you in a dream before we met and you were real.
I loved you in a silent thought of what you'd make me feel.
I loved you when my heart was burst and then refused to heal.
I loved you when the thought of love was doubt, restraint, surreal.

Now I love you in the wind that gently sings throughout the trees.
I love you in the solace that you bring in times of need.
I love you in the kiss that trembles when I try to breathe.
I love you past the walls you broke to see inside of me.

I love you in the dashboard light, you in the drivers seat.
I love you in the covers in the night when our eyes meet.
I love you when I'm freezing and you give me all your heat.
I love you through the distance, whether miles, yards or feet.

I love you when you're angry that I cannot let things go.
I love you for lifting my pain before it could overflow.
I love you in the vision of our future that you show.
I love you for believing in and helping me to grow.

I love you in the tingle that ignites throughout my spine.
I love you in the contour underneath your clothes, so fine.
I love you when I'm pleasing you, your breathing matching mine.
I love you in the aftermath of making love, divine.

I love you on the holidays you give me presents late.
I love you when you're venting about the job you have and hate.
I love you for still wanting me even if you have to wait.
I love you and our broken road that lead us to this fate.

I'll love you when "I do" will be the biggest words we say.
I'll love you when you teach our son the sports he wants to play.
I'll love you when we're older and our hair begins to grey.
I love you now and I'll love you then, in my soul is where you'll stay.
