Prayer about her

by Mal Lucy   Mar 10, 2013

She is like a prayer
the way she talks
the way she lifes
her skin touches yours
and you thank god for making her
you tell me about her
your eyes shining as bright as your words
your words singing
starstruck
you tell me
loving her is a sin
and you apologize and beg god to forgive you
but loving her is the only religion you know anymore
and when you preach
it's all about her
you are losing yourself
and finding yourself
and searching for yourself
and you are living more than you ever lived before
her body is a bible
you say
and you read it page by page
word for word
her eyes are infinity
she is infinity
more than you are
and more than I am
and more than god is
you want to hate her
you say
because loving her IS A SIN!
you are not a sinner!
but she alone is the forbidden fruit
and you sink your teeth in it
and taste it
and love it
and swallow it
she has become faith for you
she is your believe
and she is who you pray to
loving her makes you who you are
you tell me
tears in your eyes and all I see is a broken man
god hates you, you think
at the end of the day,
when you are lying in her arms
it doesn't matter then
you are happy with her
but you miss being it without her
you miss being someone without her
you ask me
is love supposed to make you feel like this?
I shrug
because, really
I never prayed to anyone else than god
and I know the bible word for word
but love is something I don't know of.
but when I preach it's always your face I see
and heaven has always been your arms
all I can say is that love is supposed to hurt
and it's supposed to make you feel
and all I can say is that I wish you would be talking about me
like you talk about her
like she is all that you see
and loving her is all about that you care.

the next sunday I didn't see you in church
and losing you wasn't nearly as bad as

never having you.
