Untitled - For Steve

You were an accident
In every sense of the word
Far from a mistake
But to me a concept, quite absurd

It all started on a night
With a number that is lost
I stumbled through the darkness
Eyes drooping, slightly glossed

Under a street light you stood
Illuminated by my fragile hope
Hypnotically I advanced forward
As if my soul was lassoed by a rope

You held out your strange hand
And without hesitation I reached out
I could taste the color of your eyes
Instantly my mind filled with doubt

Smiling you took out a syringe
And slid it underneath my skin
Pushing the plunger down
Emptying the contents deep within

Fear encompassed me deeply
I had been here many times before
Feeling the burning sensation tingle
Falling quickly to the floor

That little taste became not enough
My lips began to crave you
Your essence encompassed my mind
Until I didn't know what to do

You pulled me to my feet
And gave me another dose
Kissing, licking, touching
Our bodies so very close

My addiction grew rapidly
The intensity becoming scary
But your smile calmed my nerves
Whispering to me the contrary

Now here we sit on the water
You, surging through my veins
The fear long abandoned
Along with all the heartbreaking pains

Along the shore the waves crash
You slide your hand in mine
We watch as the night breaks
And the sun begins to shine
