Adrift

by DarkKnight   Jul 23, 2013

Adrift on lifes deep unsettled seas
feeling lonely, ill at ease, afraid of
this journey, alone once more
looking back towards the shore.

Ships that pass in the night, looking
for safe harbours light, all once safe
is now lost, only now realised the cost.

Shrieks of a solitary gull on high
or memory of a lonely cry, voices
raised from passing ships or sobs
of grief from her sweet lips.

Oh lonely sailor and solitary gull how
loves sharp rocks have pierced hearts
hull.

Sinking down to Davey Jones
cold cold heart and freezing bones.
