Bring Tears to my Eyes

by Prince Enigma   Jul 2, 2004

When I was seven years old,
I was always told that love is completely uncontrolled.
I tried not to believe this,
Love does not exist.

I was so wrong,
I thought I was strong,
Till I met her.
We were...
We got along...

We walked together on the beach many times,
I didn't know what to say to her sometimes.
Every Sunday we strolled along the shore,
Inside me was an eternal struggle I could not ignore.
Then I picked up a sea shell,
Threw it into our wishing well.
I wish I knew what I was getting into,
Now that I know love is true.

I carved both our names onto our oak tree,
I tried to do it secretly,
Then she noticed it and went down on one knee,
She wondered, she pondered.
But she knew that was from me.
It was suppose to be hidden,
Because I wanted our love to be forbidden.

Many years have passed,
I thought our love would last.
I never heard from her again,
I hope she comes back but when?
I was always bad at goodbyes,
But she definitely did bring tears to my eyes.
