The Forgotten Flower

by kenneth wright   Oct 16, 2013

The forgotten flower
the forgotten flower lying deep in the grass
to reach sunlight other plants it must pass
it strives to reach the sunlight so high
from which it does not feel shy
but the trees which grow so tall
make the flower feel so small
the flower remained forgotten as if it went through sadnesses fall
until one day it looked around and walked down friendships hall.
around it where other flowers that grew strong and true
and with them the forgotten flower flew
it could not understand its new friends well
but still understood the kindness of friendships bell.
and with time, the forgotten flower grew well.
thanks to its friends it is a forgotten flower no more.
and of happiness it is sure.
the forgotten flower now grows tall but it will not forget
its memories of sadness and regret.
but it now uses these memories to help flowers anew.
and of that, its content and happiness are set.
