Broken 

I thought I'd found my one true love,
But little did I know.
I thought I'd found my soul mate,
But it turned out that's not so.

I tried to give my heart to you
And you took it for awhile.
But only until it was convenient for you
To return it with a smile.

So no hard feelings, my love.
I did what I had to do.
And now I know
That what I did
I did to help you through.

We all have tough times
And most definitely need a friend
I hope I was that to you
At least until the end.

My heart hurts now
And feels black and blue
But I will persevere
And quickly get over you.
