Only in my Dreams

by Gianna Cranston   May 29, 2014

Your finger tips brush my skin as you play with my hair
Your breath dances across my skin as you kiss my forehead
In your arms is where I feel safe, I couldn't imagine being anywhere else.

But the continual whining of my alarm clock rips me from your arms
Your image fades from my eyes as sleeps lifts its weight from my body
I choke on a sob that fights to leave me
I fight back tears as I reach for your hand that I know isn't there

You're gone. Moved on. A second thought you'll never give me.

The life we could of had together would of been filled with so much love
But we let the negative consume us and in the end we both gave up
Why couldn't we make it work, why couldn't we make our love last?

I hope you find all the happiness and love that eluded us
I think of you every day and dream of you every night
You're the one I love, you're the one that got away.
