Desolation

by Melissa Coffman   Jun 28, 2014

To what depths we sank
To discover our love
From the filth that surrounded us
We carved an intricate life
Sacrificing longevity for quick consumption
We devoured all we could hold
Our bodies burst in unison
We had no where left to go
Atop a desolate plateau
We obligingly climbed
To view the remains of our fury
We realized there, the strength of our union
The powerful isolation overwhelmed us
Into our future we gazed, overtaken with sadness
Hearts bleeding, we faded from the present
Onward to meet with fate
