This piece seems not only personal to you but almost encouraging though its personal strength it gives hope to others. The tone here is interesting and it turned out well. Great write.

I love how this poem seems so personal and straight from the heart. The narrator comes across as a strong character, totally at home in her body and proud to be who she is. If more of us could feel like this we would be a lot happier!

    A powerful and liberating write.:)

I wear heels like them skinny women

    - "them" should be "those"

I love the whole idea of this poem, it is a subject that raises many concerns about the younger generations and how imagery in society has changed, and still is changing.

I like how you added in the cliché of beauty and brains, and how you had pride over being clever.

I also though it was a good touch to the poem to add in the parents, and what they say and do, I believe that because they are proud and unashamed of themselves, that their children have learned the same confidence, of loving yourself and accepting yourself as people who matter accept you, and not how strangers try to change you, before they will accept you!

Really great topic, and you worded it well.

    Well done

Superb and I agree with the sentiment entirely - though each to their own!

It's nice to see someone who is proud of who they are and where they come from inspiring to say the least ... I've been a bit shallow in the past myself... in fact the girl I marry on Wednesday I said was not my type... but now every time I look I just keep thinking... how did I not see what I see now.

    Well penned

Being proud in the skin you're in is the best way. If others don't like it, maybe they should take a look at their own shallowness.

Since I closed my old account, I thought I would comment again!
Powerful write, full of self worth and confidence which are two things too many people lack these days. By the way, I am rather fond of curves myself, lol.

Take care and all the best,
    Ben
