Promised

by James Garrett   Dec 20, 2014

I think how beautiful a life with you would be.
How can it be, a woman with a family?

Me on the outside, looking in.
My mind is in turmoil as you might imagine,

I'm so sad that I am not part of your life.
What can I do to end all this strife?

I think of tomorrow, will you invite me in?
To share our life until the end.

Is it only a hope in this soul of mine,
To have you come to me at this time.

My life is so full of fear,
Because I wonder if you will be near,

To take me in your arms for good,
Was I clear enough that you understood?

I will wait forever till time is no more,
To bind your love to me as I have sworn.

I liked this little poem, I like poems that create a very simple picture, and tell a little story and you can know the relationship of the characters clearly. You have done this here, and used rhyming in a way that makes the poem flow smoothly, and makes it quite enjoyable to read.

    Lovely write.
