The Fire In My Heart

by John   Jul 6, 2004

The fire crackles and pops,
Yet we seek our warmth
In each others arms.
Fireflies dance in your eyes;
Reflections of that fire
Flickering in those deep pools of blue
That I wade into
When you smile at me.
Within that smile and your gaze,
I see your hopes and dreams
and feelings,
revealing love more than words can say.
Shadows dance into the distance,
In celebration it seems
Of our happiness together.
With a kiss from your lips and the touch of your hand
We sneak out into that dance,
To reunite our bodies and souls.
And as though in cooperation,
The fire dies down,
Drawing the curtain of night
To add privacy to our act of love.
And in our lovemaking's bliss
I feel the fire in my heart continue to grow,
Fueled by my feelings for you
And the winds of your love.
This fire, that consumes me,
Will burn forever.
