Hmm, sad but lovely?

I take this as a relationship between two people, but you are at a place where you do not yet believe that you are worthy of the love. Or perhaps you think they deserve better than you. It is interesting that you use the terms "shielded and protected" because it implies that you see yourself as harmful, dangerous, and to me that implies that love has gone wrong in the past so you believe yourself to be the cause of it.

You do have a talent for putting a lot of emotion and thought into such a small poem! You make my poetic brain go into rambling mode!!
