You'll never be a magician

You could never be a magician babe
I think that's pretty clear
You've reached the bottom of your bag of tricks
But have yet to make us disappear

Everything that you've tried
To this point has been a fail
1st, 2nd, and 3rd acts
All had tricks you just couldn't nail

You've tried to pull replacements
For me out of your hat
But each time you pulled
All that came out was a lying rat

So then you tried hypnosis
And maybe you'd simply forget
But when you woke from your deep sleep
All you could feel was regret

And last you tried to vanish
Run away from me once and for all
But when you reappeared in a new place
In my arms is where you wanted to fall

So now back to square one
I believe you finally see
That you'll never be a magician babe
Cause here we are, just you and me
