Indelible

The glass was half empty,
Yet he convinced her it was half full,
She was so used to being alone,
He ensured her that it wasn't true.

She was so youthful and careless,
Yet he showed her how to love,
She was so afraid to say how she felt,
Yet he made her feel trust.

She took what was positive,
Crawled into her space,
Put up her defences,
She hoped out of fear what she'd then said,
Had been taken into place.

~Why are you so full of resentment?
So full of distrust? I've done nothing to harm you,
I've only ever done what's best for us~

He was enamoured by her emotions,
She had been hurt in the past,
She couldn't accept that he loved her,
But he wasn't ready to let that pass.

They spoke for hours,
About all the things that had made them weak,
Then he told her to let all that go,
~The past is in the past, this is now you and me.~

She was in hospital sitting next to her mum,
She had just tried to commit suicide,
And didn't want the issues to overcome.

~Your so much more than your past, don't forget you're you~ and with that he pulled out a ring,
~But in time my dear, because I'm here to help you.~
