Optimist

A glowering sky, a flash of light,

a sunny day plunged into night,

and all that seemed so safe and whole

is scattered with each thunder roll.

It seems the world must wash away

in sheets of rain on this dark day--

and yet the thoughtful person knows

the day ends where the rainbow goes.

    This poem sounds like a thunderstorm. A storm washing away impurities, a bit like colonic irrigation - lol.

    Seriously, the meter is super and is a pleasure to read its beautiful beat. The rhyme aa,bb works well and lends itself to the pace.
