There's Nothing Left Here Dear

by Maren L Johnson   Nov 13, 2015

No kisses for my lips,
No care for my tears.
No love to be made on the backseat of your coop,
No haves or holds dear.

No gift on the special days,
or time spent aware.
No remorse or apology,
just nonchalance dear.

No loyalty forever and seven days,
no I miss when you're not here.
No skipping of heart beats,
or a rush to be held dear.

No trace of my spine with your fingertips,
or tattoo by tongue on skin.
No trips to another time so far yet near,
or holding hands under pregnant skies for you or me dear.

No reassurance of a lifetime thrill
or a leap of faith over the edge.
No kiss hello or goodbye,
or respect for our pledge.

We promised to be here
and now I'm drenched in fear
Where did you put it love?
Tell me where's my heart dear?

Where's my smile,
the box of old records
or my cassette player?
All the promises you packed away,
I can't find them dear.

No love for a wanderer
No love for your soul dear
No love for me
No love for you
There's Nothing Left Here Dear
