Darkness Sets In

by Rob   Jan 5, 2016

There is an eerie kind of silence here,
On the banks of a stream that flows red,
Underneath the giant tree leaves,
In this forest where they ended up dead...

Now you stand there and sense them watching you,
The shadows behind the trees,
And no matter how much you try to disdain,
You know they are here to make you bleed...

It is cold and getting damp in here,
The forest is no place to play,
As darkness sets and the fog rolls in,
You know you should run but its far too late...

Like rekindling a nightmare of Gothic dreams,
Their deviant appearance demoralizes the norm,
This is not the environment for solace,
But more like the stench of death where they roam...

The bites of the Ferries bring a painful end,
To those who walked this path and cried,
And failed to heed the stern warnings,
That when night comes the Ferries will fly...

Shadows succumb to the anointment within,
Of ten thousand bloody tears,
Screams here go unnoticed and empty,
This is the nightmare of all of your fears...

Hell hath no fury like their queen when disturbed,
From their nests they will fly down to defend,
Curiosity has delivered its answer to you,
To the imminent darkness you will now transcend...

As you pass through the gates of true darkness,
Your corpse has cheated its fate,
No longer to share any sense of fear,
In the forest on that path where you died there this day...
