Alas my love

by Sophie   Jan 13, 2016

Alas my love I do not know
When we can leave, where we can go
Please, love, take my hand
Take me from this dreadful land.
Oh dear love let us go
If we leave now no one will know
'Till we are far, far away
Never to return for many a day

Alas my love I am so alone
I never want to return home
To father and his twenty-two
We'll run away just me and you
Bring a ladder, bring a rope
Come right now and we'll elope
Leave the forest, leave the deer
I need you more right here

Alas my love let us go
To town to see the preacher Joe
Then we will go away together
I will never leave your side ever
Bring your truck and we'll escape
You don't need a hero's cape
Let's go and make a life
With me as your little wife.
