Lost

by Erin   Jan 24, 2016

Alone in shrouded mist adorn
The light of stars a sole distraction
The song of silent night forlorn
In absence of loves faction.

Away from stillness so serene
Restless nights I lay awake
Wondering if the Lord above has seen
All I've given for His sake.

No warmth from pillow next to mine
Love has all but eroded
Following through with grand design
Logic not yet decoded.

I hate this feeling of being alone
Watching others live life complete
I see shared hearts with love they own
Here they share a lovers seat.

Oh how I yearn to understand
All things from future past
It's hard not to feel this bitter hand;
Not want to die at long last.
I continue to pray.

    Hello Erin,

Welcome to P&Q's. It is always nice to see new members. As Ben says, a poem with rhyme and a structure that challenges for this sad story to be told.

Trying to figure out the actions of someone that was once so close is difficult. Sometimes it is best to lick wounds for a while, brush off the hurt by writing it down and you'll soon realise that there is more to life than accepting unrequited love.

    All the best.

Hello Erin and welcome to the site.

A great first post from you here with a difficult rhyme structure (abab) - always hard to achieve but you have done it well here.
    Well done and keep writing,
    Ben
